About the Southern Tablelands Tourism Association
Today the rainforest is lush and green, and it is business as usual on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands. However it is over a year ago, on the morning of 20th March 2006, that many people on the Atherton Tablelands would rather forget. Cyclone Larry had crossed the coast and devastated many coastal communities. But the Tablelands, (approx 80km inland), also suffered damage.
Many businesses, including those in the tourism industry were forced to close to repair damage to buildings and infrastructure. The emotional and financial burden also increased when tourism visitors to the area plummeted.
Eacham Shire tourism operators rallied together to form this association.
Our charter is “To market the Eacham Shire with the overall outcome being increased visitation and create brand awareness of the Waterfalls and Crater Lakes District of the Atherton Tablelands”.
Come and visit our area. Not only will you find really wonderful scenery, but the locals here are pretty nice too!
